UMass took the early lead by winning the doubles match point for the fourteenth time this season and didn't give it up when they took down Saint Louis to win their first match of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Billikens (12-11, 2-1 Atlantic 10) beat Fordham earlier in the day to move on to play the Minutewomen but would go no farther as UMass (12-10, 5-0 Atlantic 10) will face the winner of the #4 Duquesne, #5 Xavier match that is currently under way. The match will take place April 19 at 1:00 p.m.
The UMass tennis team lost their last match of the regular season last night to Boston University (9-7). The Minutewomen (11-10, 4-0 Atlantic 10) have finished the season over .500 for the last four years in a row. The Terriers took all of the games from the Minutewomen including each of the doubles games. This loss also ended a six-game winning streak UMass had. Since UMass had already received their ranking in the Atlantic 10 Conference, this match was looked at as a preparatory one for the upcoming weekend.
