Women's Basketball Holds Annual Banquet

    The 2007-08 University of Massachusetts women's basketball annual awards banquet was held Sunday, April 13 in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center. Kate Mills was the recipient of the Jack Leaman Award, the team MVP as voted upon by the coaches. Alisha Tatham received the first ever Christel Zullo Spirit Award. Pam Rosanio was awarded the game ball after scoring her 1,000th career point in the season opener against Vermont. Whitney McDonald was also honored for her career at UMass. (more)

    Alisha Tatham Takes Part In Coaching Event At Final Four

    UMass senior women's basketball player Alisha Tatham was selected to take part in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to take part in its "So You Want To Be A Coach" program at the women's Final Four in Tampa over the weekend. The program consists of workshops that allow the former players to meet and learn from high-level professionals, attend WBCA functions, and attend open practices. Tatham, a two-year captain, finished her UMass career in March, totaling 116 games played and 524 points. Alisha meets Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer. (more)

    Minutewomen Fall To Dayton, 57-51, In A-10 Tourney

    Kate Mills poured in 17 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, but Dayton, led by Nikki Oakland's 20 points and 13 rebounds proved too much down the stretch, as the fifth-seeded Flyers downed 12th-seeded UMass, 57-51, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. It was a close battle throughout, with five lead changes and nobody every leading by more than nine. Senior Pam Rosanio and freshman Cerie Mosgrove each added 11 points each for UMass. For Mosgrove it was a career-high. Brittany Holterman added 10 points and eight rebounds for Dayton. The Minutewomen finish the season at 13-17 overall, while the Flyers improve to 24-7 and move on to face fourth-seeded Charlotte on Saturday.

  • A-10 Announces 2008 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams
    UMass women's basketball (13-16, 5-9 A-10), after closing the season by winning two out of three games, heads to Philadelphia and Saint Joseph's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse for the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship to be played March 7-10. The Minutewomen earned the #12 seed and will face #5 seed Dayton in (23-7, 9-5 A-10) the first round on Friday at 2 p.m. The winner will face #4 Charlotte, who received a first round bye, in the second round on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Minutewomen and Flyers met less then two weeks ago, on Saturday, Feb. 23 in Amherst. UMass came away with a 56-46 victory.

    A-10 Announces 2008 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams
    As announced by the league, senior captain Kate Mills (Elkton, Md.) was named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Second Team All-Conference and senior Pam Rosanio (Southampton, Pa.) received an honorable mention. Kate Mills, a preseason third team pick, finished the regular season third in the conference in scoring and blocks, second in free throw percentage, fifth in field goal percentages, and ninth in rebounding. Mills was named A-10 Player of the Week a conference-leading four times this season. Rosanio finished fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, eighth in field goal percentage, and 10th in free throw percentage, and 14th in assists.

    Minutewomen Fall At Temple, 64-46, Go On To A-10 Tournament

    Pam Rosanio scored 15 points and Kate Mills added 13, but it wasn't enough, as UMass (13-16, 5-9 A-10) lost to Temple (19-11, 12-2 A-10), 64-46, on Saturday afternoon at the Liacouras Center. Mills led the Minutewomen with seven rebounds and four assists, while Sakera Young added seven points and five boards. The Owls were led by LaKeisha Eaddy's 16 points. The Minutewomen will be the #12-seed in the A-10 Tournament and play #5-seeded Dayton in the first round on Friday at 2 p.m.
