Now in her 17th year at UMass, Kathy Boyd is the primary athletic trainer for the women's soccer team. She is responsible for all aspects of the team's injury prevention and care.
Prior to coming to UMass, Boyd was assistant athletic trainer at UMass Lowell for five years. While at Lowell, she also worked on the physical therapy staff at Tewksbury Hospital in Tewksbury, Mass. Since 1990, she has been the head trainer for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association, coordinating sports medicine coverage for the state cup tournaments and Massachusetts Tournament of Champions.
Boyd earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from North Adams State in 1976. She received her Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports Medicine from Southern Illinois in 1980.
Boyd resides in Belchertown.
