The men's cross country team placed 11th while the women's team took 28th at the NCAA Regional Qualifier in Boston Saturday. Senior leader Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) led the way for the women while freshman Jeff Hill (Blackstone, Mass.) paced the men's team. The UMass men's and women's cross country teams will head to Boston's Franklin Park this weekend for the NCAA Regional Qualifier hosted by Harvard University. Both teams are coming off of impressive performances in the last few weeks. The men's team tied for third at the A-10 Championships and placed third at the Albany Invitational. The women's team has been led in a big way by senior captain Christina DeRosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.). Senior Christina DeRosa won the Albany Invitational leading the women's team to a fourth-place team finish on Saturday at Albany University. The men's team, led by junior Peter Fortunato, came in third among 26 teams capping off a terrific weekend for the UMass cross country teams.
