         <description><![CDATA[Senior Mike Kostka (Ajax, Ontario) and Senior Jason Small (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) were named the UMass/Dinn Bros. Co-Athletes of the Week. This past weekend, both athletes turned in strong performances to help lead their team's to victory. Kostka helped the Mass Attack sweep Merrimack to clinch the eighth spot in the Hockey East Playoffs, while Small led the way for the Minutemen with a second place finish in the slalom with a time of 1:40.17.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[UMass men's ski team celebrates as they took top honors at the 2008 USCSA National Championships in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom events. UMass had four skiers place in the top ten in the Slalom. Senior Jason Small again led the way for the Minutemen with a second place finish at 1:40.17. Andrew Hawes placed fifth with a combined time of 1:44.00 and Matthew Small placing ninth with a time of 1:45.21. Even though his time did not count in the overall score, Ian Hohmeister rounded out the top ten skiers with a time of 1:45.45. It has been 23 years since an Eastern Team has won the USCSA National Championship.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Three UMass skiers placed in the top ten as the Minutemen dominated the Giant Slalom at the USCSA Nationals. Senior Jason Small skied to a second place overall finish with a combined time of 2:16.66, Andrew Hawes took eighth place with a total time of 2:19.21, and Ian Hohmeister placed ninth crossing the finish line at 2:19.48. Small's first run in the Giant Slalom earned him the top spot with a time of 1:07.23, winning the race by over a second. The Minutemen as a team also took first place by over a second, out skiing Plymouth State University and Sierra Nevada College.]]></description>

Hawkins took third in the Slalom on Saturday and second in the Giant Slalom on Sunday to lead all women and help the Minutewomen take second overall as a team. Small placed second in Saturday's Slalom and skied to victory in the Giant Slalom on Sunday. The Minutemen as a team captured first place, beating Plymouth State University by one point.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[.- Senior Jason Small and sophomore Andrew Hawes dominated the Slalom as the UMass men's ski team took first at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships. For this particular event, the top three finishers from each team would be counted in the overall points total. Small was the first to score for the Minutemen as he took second place with a combined time of 1:29.25. Hawes was next to score for the Minutemen as he placed fifth with a combined time of 1:32.63. Not to be outdone by his brother, sophomore Matthew Small placed tenth with a time of 1:35.91. With UMass' top three finishers all in the top ten, the Minutemen were able to come out on top with a victory.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Sophomore Andrew Hawes took fourth in the men's Slalom this weekend at the Boston College Carnival. Hawes led the Minutemen with a time of 1:33.58. Matthew Small continues to have a solid season, placing tenth with a time of 1:37.10, while senior James Green took 15th crossing the finish line at 1:38.18. Rounding out the top five for the Minutemen include Adam Pogorzelski (17th, 1:38.60) and Travis Hopkins (21st, 1:39.39). It was a tough race for Jason Small, Ian Hohmeister, and Paul Lewenberg, who were unable to complete their runs successfully. The men's ski team was able to place third in the Slalom event and tie with Boston College for second place in conference heading into Sunday's Giant Slalom event.]]></description>

The first day started out with the Slalom event and saw some of the top men's skiers unable to finish their second runs. The top five finishers for UMass included Matthew Small, who placed tenth with a combined time of 1:40.87. Alex Zahoruiko took 12th with a total time of 1:41.67 and Travis Hopkins took 16th with a time of 1:42.10. Rounding out the top five for UMass were James Green placing 21st with a time of 1:46.35 and Paul Lewenberg taking 27th with a time of 1:48.67. After the first day of the PSU Ski Carnival, the Minutemen were third in conference.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Behind strong skiing from Jason Small and Andrew Hawes the UMass men's ski team recorded their best finish of 2008, coming in second at the UConn Carnival. In the Giant Slalom event, senior Jason Small placed sixth with a combined time of 2:15.24. Right behind Small was Andrew Hawes who clocked in with total time of 2:17.18, to earn him a seventh place finish. The top five finishers for UMass included Matthew Small (2:21.35), Adam Pogorzelski (2:22.26), and Alex Zahoruiko (2:22.48) who finish 20th, 28th, and 29th respectively. Paul Lewenberg and James Green skied well for the Minutemen crossing the finish line at 2:27.15 and 2:31.94. Jason Small also recorded the best start time and sixth best finishing times for the day. The Minutemen placed third in the Giant Slalom event after the first day of the carnival.]]></description>

The event will be held at the Campus Hotel on the 11th floor. The night will begin at six o'clock with a cocktail hour from 6-7 pm, followed by dinner from 7-8 pm, and the auction from 8-9 pm. Attire for the event is formal, coats and ties are suggested. <b> Please note: The deadline for signing up was originally Nov. 16, but has been extended one week to Nov. 23.</b>]]></description>
