The UMass men's lacrosse team hosts Senior Day on Saturday as the Minutemen take on ECAC rival Rutgers at 3 p.m. Prior to the game with the Scarlet Knights, UMass will recognize its senior class of Brian Danvers, Fred Federico, Sean Krygier, Paul Manesis and David Von Voigt. The quintet has been a part of four years in Amherst, where the Minutemen have gone 38-23 for a 62.3 win percentage. UMass junior attacker Tim Balise scored all five of his goals in the fourth quarter to rally UMass back from a four-goal deficit, but it was not enough as Fairfield's Ryan Mulford scored with 36 seconds left in regulation to give the Stags their first-ever win against UMass, 10-9 at Garber Field on Tuesday. Coming off a 13-8 victory at St. John's last Saturday, the Minutemen will return home to continue conference play against Hobart this weekend. UMass found its offense in a huge way on Saturday as the Minutemen posted a season-high 13 goals. Junior Tim Balise scored a career-high six goals and added an assist for a career-best seven points in the victory. The Minutemen moved to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the ECAC with their second win in a row. UMass is currently in third place in the ECAC, with the Hobart Statesmen sitting in fourth place. UMass will look to earn their third straight win and increase their lead over Hobart in league standings. Junior Tim Balise (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named the ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office. Balise scored a career-high six goals and had a career-best seven points in a 13-8 win at St. John's. It was the most goals in a game by a UMass player since Jeff Zywicki had six vs. Syracuse in the NCAA tournament in 2005. Balise had four goals in the first half as UMass built a 10-3 halftime lead. It is the most goals scored by an ECAC player in a game this season. Balise shares the league honors with Hobart's Daryl Veltman.]]>
