New UMass basketball head coach Derek Kellogg announced four members of his basketball staff at the University of Massachusetts. Adam Ginsburg, who has been an assistant coach for each of the last three years at UMass, will remain as an assistant coach under Kellogg. Vance Walberg has been named an assistant coach; Andy Allison has been named the director of basketball operations and Shyrone Chatman has been named director of player personnel. (more)
New UMass basketball coach Derek Kellogg and his wife Nicole welcomed their first child into the world on Monday, April 28. Maximus Antonio Kellogg was born in Memphis, Tenn., at 1:47 p.m. He weighed in at seven pounds, four ounces and measured 19 and 3/4 inches long. Congratulations to the Kelloggs on their new addition. UMass has brought one of its own home to run the men's basketball program. Former Minuteman point guard and Springfield native Derek Kellogg has been named the 21st head coach in University of Massachusetts men's basketball history, it was announced by Director of Athletics John McCutcheon on Wednesday evening. The 1995 UMass graduate returns to his alma mater for his first head coaching job after serving as an assistant coach for 12 years, the last eight at the University of Memphis under former UMass head coach John Calipari.

The University of Massachusetts has announced the consultative committee which will be involved in the search for a new head men's basketball coach at UMass. Director of Athletics John McCutcheon will oversee and chair the committee which features members of the university community in various areas. The committee consists of Carol Barr, John Dubach, Tim Kenney, Ron Nathan, Elaine Sortino, Esther Terry and Glenn Wong.
